Geometric modeling, superquadrics, CSG
Abstract: This paper presents application of superquadric elipsoids and toroids in Constructive Solid Geometry (CSG) modeling. Single block of equations for surface, volume and inertia simplifies the CSG kernel. Unified equations for basic solids reduce number of CSG intersection tests to minimum and leads to application speed-up and stability.
In spite of described advances, there are few
applications[Neveu et al., 1995, Bardinet et al., 1995] using this kind
of solids. We present our modeler developed in Open GL graphics
language with unique solution to solid singularities, CSG database,
Boolean operations and 3D representation.
